Bahía Kino

It is one of the most beautiful and safest beaches in Sonora and even in Mexico; therefore, it allows a wide range of activities to be carried out. It is part of the municipality of Hermosillo. Here the indigenous "seris" settle down, maintaining and sharing, to this day, their culture and traditions.

The departure is in the morning from the City of Hermosillo to Bahía de Kino, located in the Sonoran desert area and on the coast of the Sea of Cortez. In the middle of the bay is Alcatraz Island and off the coast, Shark Island, recognized as the largest in Mexico and converted into an Ecological Reserve. Our first stop will be in the Sahuaros Valley, one of the most fascinating scenery in the state. You will feel that the desert protects you; Each cactus has 7 or more arms, its stems are fleshy, thick and of whimsical shapes. It is an enchanted place where you will feel really small. Later we will arrive at Estero Santa Cruz to enjoy the sea, the tranquility and the pleasant temperature of the water. We will continue with a visit to the oyster farm, where you will learn about its process and we will do a small tasting. We will have time to eat at the Mariscos Bahía Restaurant (free). We will visit the traditional Kino Viejo Pier, where the emblematic letters are located and you can take spectacular photos. We will continue with a catamaran tour through the beautiful waters of the Sea of Cortez and hopefully we will observe sea lions. Finally we will visit the Ethnic Museum of the Seris or Comca´ac Museum, this museum represents an opportunity to recognize and spread the legacy of the Comca´ac: antecedents, political and social organization, language, demography, habitat, clothing, housing, crafts, holidays, etcetera. We will end with the return to Hermosillo.
